Root & The Hearth is founded by Shadi Bee, a chef, herbalist, culinary anthropologist, and formulation specialist devoted to the living traditions of plant medicine.
Shadi’s work sits at the crossroads of food, culture, and healing. She holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology with a focus on sustainable development and has spent over two decades studying how cultures around the world nourish vitality through plants, fungi, and ritual.
Her herbal training began in the lineage of Western herbalism inspired by Rosemary Gladstar, followed by advanced Ayurvedic study with Dr. Vasant Lad at The Ayurvedic Institute. Alongside formal study, she has pursued lifelong research in ethnobotany, culinary herbalism, and traditional plant use across cultures.
As a private chef and culinary creator, Shadi has long practiced food as medicine — working with farmers, wild ingredients, and seasonal ecosystems to craft deeply nourishing experiences. Her background in formulation spans more than a decade, creating plant-based body care, edible remedies, and botanical products rooted in efficacy and integrity.
